If You Are Not Patriotic, You Are Selfish

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

"Patriotism is as much a virtue as justice, and is necessary for the support of societies as natural affection is for the support of families." -Dr. Benjamin Rush

Regarding the above quote: In a nutshell, imagine trying to keep your family together if you don't have love for your family...Now, imagine trying to keep our country together if you don't have love for your country. - Quite simply, it cannot be achieved. That is what Dr. Benjamin Rush is pointing out with his words in the above quote.

"The amor patriae (love of country) is both a moral and a religious duty. It comprehends not only the love of neighbors but millions of our fellow creatures, not only the present but of future generations." - Dr. Benjamin Rush

  • If you love others, you must fight for others now and for the future generations to make sure this country still works, remains stable as well as being the most prosperous in the world while maintaining freedom for the people. That is why it is both a social and religious duty. We owe it to GOD to love other people, which means you want the best for them, which also means you want the best Government for them.

At this moment, you may be asking, "who is Dr. Benjamin Rush?"

According to John Adams, "He is one the three most notable founding fathers."

The other two are George Washington and Benjamin Franklin.

Notables of Dr. Benjamin Rush:

  • Top doctor in American history, he signed the diplomas of 3,000 medical students and served as the Surgeon General.

  • He set up the first free clinic in the United States.

  • The father of public schools under the Constitution; he started 5 universities.

  • Signed the Declaration of Independence.

  • Ratified the Constitution.

  • Served in 3 different Presidential administrations.

  • Served as the Treasurer of the U.S. Mint.

  • Helped found the first anti-slavery society.

Regarding Dr. Benjamin Rush being the father of public schools.

He stated there are 3 purposes of the public schools:

  1. To teach young people to love and serve GOD.

  2. To teach young people to love and serve Country.

  3. To teach young people to love and serve Family.

It was this way up until the 1960's when the Supreme court activists claimed we have evolved past this. The result? As it stands now, the Government is one of the chief enemies against the family.

We have changed our priorities from

We have been remiss in this regard and we are suffering for it and our future generations being lined up to suffer for it as well. To put an end to this counterfeit cycle, we must get back involved in loving and protecting our country; by learning our Constitution, our country's heritage, running for public office from the local level right up through the federal level (learn their job descriptions, ordinances, rule books, rules and language).

We also must intentionally rearrange our priorities back to

Dr. Benjamin Rush didn't have it wrong. Turns out, we do. Now, let's fix it.

"If you are not patriotic, you are selfish." -Dr. Benjamin Rush
